Merle Benningfield

June 15, 1930 — August 30, 2010

Merle "Tutor" Benningfield of Campbellsville, son of the late Victor Benningfield and Mazy Goodin Benningfield, was born June 15, 1930 in Pekin, Illinois. He died at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 30, 2010 in Greensburg. He professed faith in Christ and was a member of the St. Andrew Methodist Church. He was retired manager of Fruit of the Loom Cafeteria in Campbellsville. He was a member of the Campbellsville Country Club and an avid golfer. He united in marriage to Aileen Garrison December 25, 1954.


Besides his wife, Aileen Benningfield of Campbellsville, he is survived by two sons and two daughters: Barry Benningfield and wife, Lisa, Dickie Benningfield and wife, Marsha, and Susie Hash and husband, Troy, of Campbellsville, and Sharon Bloyd and husband, Eddie of Greensburg; seven grandchildren: Katie Ford, Reed Benningfield and wife, Tabby and Brady Hash of Campbellsville, Michelle Bletzacker of Dublin, Ohio, Nicholas Benningfield of California, Adam Bloyd and wife, Brooke of Savannah, Georgia and Chelsea Bloyd of Greensburg; seven great-grandchildren: Seth Ford, Abby Ford, Nate Ford, Drake Benningfield, Ashton Anderson, Camden Anderson and Christian Anderson; brother, Bob Benningfield of Antioch, Tennessee; sister-in-law, Frances Benningfield of Campbellsville; several nieces and nephews; his beloved dog, Heidi and many other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by one granddaughter, Lindsey Kay Benningfield
April 9, 1987; two brothers and one sister: Dan Benningfield, Nolan Benningfield and Jewell Kemp.
