Martha R. Baxter of Campbellsville, daughter of the late William C. Covington and Abbie Ganoway Covington, was born in Shelbyville, Kentucky, November 2, 1923. She died at 6:00 A.M., Thursday, July 1, 2010 in Campbellsville.
She professed faith in Christ and was a member of the Campbellsville Baptist Church.
She was a former employee of the United States Forestry Department.
She united in marriage to W. E. "Hamp" Baxter August 16, 1946. He preceded her in death January 9, 1991.
Survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Patty and Greg Vaughn of Campbellsville; two grandsons: Pike Hightower and wife, Dawn of White, Georgia and Jeb Hightower of Lexington; step-granddaughter, Amy Decker of Bowling Green, great-grandson, Kipling Judah Hightower of White, Georgia; step-great-granddaughter, Chloe Decker of Bowling Green; sister, Doris Stephens of Lexington; two nieces and one nephew and spouses: Mel and Ben Oldham, Martha and Mike Meehan and Keith and Kitty Stephens of Lexington; three great-nieces and three great-nephews and spouses: Shannon and John Sampson, Jon and Suzy Oldham, Matt and Kelly Stephens, Abby Stephens, Megan and Stefan Hanser, and Miles Meehan; and many other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Joe Stephens in 2009.
