Edith Perkins

Edith Ann Perkins of Campbellsville, daughter of the late Will P. Payne and Mary Riddle Payne, was born November 22, 1920, in Marion County, Kentucky. She died at 10:48 A.M., Thursday, October 28, 2010 in Campbellsville.

She professed faith in Christ and was a member of Eastside Baptist Church. She was very active in church work having taught Sunday School, Training Union and Vacation Bible School. She had also sung in the choir and led the singing.

She was a loving wife, mother, seamstress, and designer. She was a good neighbor seeing that flowers, food, cards and memorial Bibles were donated in times of sickness and death. She used her talents to help others and was loved by many.

She united in marriage to O. R. Perkins April 10, 1937. He preceded her in death April 23, 1986.
She is survived by two sons and one daughter: James E. "Sonnie" Perkins and wife, Ocilla of Elk Horn, William R. "Bill" Perkins of Campbellsville and Shirley Temple Caple and husband, Donnie of Plant City, Florida; two grandsons: Norman Rocky Sprowles and Rex M. Perkins and wife, Margie of Campbellsville; step-granddaughter, Donna Caple of Florida; four great-grandsons: Travis Perkins of Campbellsville, Matthew Sprowles, Alan Michael Sprowles and Ryan Sprowles of Louisville; three brothers and one sister: Joe Payne of Lebanon, Gerald Payne of Leitchfield, Ronnie Payne of Calvert City and Helen Mattingly of Hammond, Indiana; several nieces and nephews and many other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by five brothers: Howard Payne, Paul Payne, Lyle Payne, Chester Payne and Marion Payne.
