Donald Clayton Mullins, 68, died from natural causes Friday, August 13, 2010 at his residence in Greenup, KY. The son of Aria Nancy Capps Mullins of Campbellsville and the late Charles John Mullins, he was born in Gary, Indiana. He moved to Taylor County, KY as a young boy and graduated from Taylor County High School in 1960. He attended Berea College and trained at Hobarts welding school in Troy, OH.
After graduating from the Kentucky State Police Academy, he served as a Kentucky State Trooper for six years. A talented pipefitter welder, he worked on projects in Michigan and Texas before settling near Ashland, KY where he worked for Ashland Oil, Inc. and ARMCO steel. He retired in 2003 after 22 years with CSX Railroad where he was a sheet metal worker. In addition to being an avid UK sports fan, he enjoyed farming, visiting the flea market, and collecting antique tractors and guns.
He was married to Judy Mae Warren, who survives.
Survivors also include a son Gregory Lee Mullins and his wife Donna of Columbus, Ohio, a daughter Laura Lee Galbraith and her husband Mitch of Phoenix, Arizona, and a step-daughter, Dr. Machelle Manuel and her husband Todd of St. Petersburg, Florida. He is also survived by three sisters and one brother, Betty Cornett of Campbellsville, George Mullins of Cincinnati, OH, Nancy Moore of Greensburg and Marietta Mullins of Elizabethtown, six grandchildren and a host of other relatives and friends.
Mr. Mullins was preceded in death by a son Donald Patrick Mullins.
