Charles Thurman Hedgespeth of Campbellsville, son of the late Charles Emmitt Hedgespeth and Esdail Hamilton Hedgespeth, was born in Taylor County, Kentucky, September 17, 1931. He died at 10:23 A.M., Tuesday, April 1, 2014 in Campbellsville. Age: 82
He professed faith in Christ and was a member of Mt. Carmel Baptist Church.
He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, having served his country honorably in the United States Air Force attaining the rank of Airman First Class. He was a Nuclear Weapons Mechanic Specialist. He received the National Defense Service Medal, United Nations Service Medal and the Korean Service Medal.
He obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree from Campbellsville College and a Masters Degree from Western Kentucky University.
He taught school in Taylor County Schools until he retired in 1987. He was a retired farmer and a former security guard for Fruit of the Loom.
He united in marriage to Mina L. Hash June 1, 1958.
Besides his wife, Mina L. Hedgespeth, he is survived by one sister-in-law, Gladys Hedgespeth Jones of Campbellsville; one nephew and two nieces: Charles Dennis "Denny" Hedgespeth and wife, Rita and Kathy Renae Vance and husband, Glenn of Campbellsville and Janet Leigh Valentine and husband, Larry of Louisville; three great-nephews: Charles Jonathan "CJ" Hedgespeth, Samuel Jacob "Jake" Graham and Jon-Micah Kane Graham; five great-nieces: Shaun Dylane Scott, Chasity Lynn Malone, Amber Renae Ervin, Kellie Jo Cash and Lacey Danielle Reynolds; five great-great nephews: James Dylan Malone, Jarett McKay Malone, Cayden Hunter Scott, Layton Thomas Scott and Paxton Cole Cash; six great-great-nieces: Mariah Leigh Malone, Kaileigh Renae Ervin, Peyton Karis Ervin, Paisley Jayde Cash, Hadlie Rae Blanford and Kenslee Danielle Reynolds; and a host of other relatives and friends.
He was also preceded in death by a brother, Ralph Hedgespeth.
